Just noticed that when you customize a S-XPS 16 in the US, it now shows up as having a 5730. Good news?[IMG]

So notebookcheck puts the 5730 just above the 5650, which is a few spots above the 4670. Sounds like a reasonable upgrade... maybe not a huge increase in performance... but it is DX11 and has the other new features of the 5000 series cards.

I see that, nice find. It's on Core i7 systems only so far (XPS 1645).

I guess we all 'knew' that the 5730 would eventually be available after seeing the Graphics Driver from Dell listed as being for the 4670 and the 5730.

That is great news.... I'm ready to order, but.... I see the RGBLED is now gone from the screen choices:mad:

All I need is for those two items to appear at the same time and I'll have myself a new laptop!

India, New Zealand & Australia have the HD5650, which is a different card than the HD5730. Only USA has this one so far.

If you're unfamiliar with the differences between the 5730 and 4670, here's a run down:

    main improvements:
400 pipelines, up from 320 - allowing for potentially 25% more performance per clock
DirectX 11 and Shader model 5 support (compared to DX10.1 and SM4.1)
including OpenCL and DirectCompute 11 support
    about 35% lower power consumption
Addition of Supersampling Antialiasing (high HQ than Multisampling)
Angle independent anisotropic filtering (everything gets filtered now)

Everything else should be about the same. Performance difference probably won't be very noticeable, but it does support a lot more eye candy.

Since my order was in production, I just called them right now and was able to upgrade... So the charge is $100 extra from the ATI 4670... just to let you kow.
