    Hi folks.

I've been using my UX302LG for approximately half a year.
At first I installed Win7 Pro on it and was more or less satisfied.

A month ago I installed Win 8.1 on it and stumbled upon USB 3.0 issue.
I frequently use external storage devices (SSD, USB 3.0 ones). They run without any issues from the right side USB 3.0 (charged). As soon as I try to use left side USB 3.0 ports they won't run. In fact my ultrabook recognizes that something is inserted into USB but when it starts to install the driver the device "drops" as if I unplugged it. Immediately after that it reconnects and everything starts all over again (installing drivers -> device drops -> reconnects).

Same thing happens with my USB-To-Lan adapter.
Prior to Win8.1 upgrade everything worked fine.

I've heard something about Microsoft Win8.1 enforcing its own USB3.0 drivers on laptops even though Intel ones should work better? - can someone comment on that?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

I'm about to upgrade my Zenbook, with 64+256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. But I can't find anywhere an information how to disable the battery before upgrade? Can anyone help?

    Thank in advance

I never disable my battery for upgrades like that. I'm sure it's just a small connector you can just unplug though.

Unfortunately my motherboard died when I tried to upgrade without disabling the battery. Everything was fine I changed the ram and msata SSD, but after I disassembled the battery and changed the HDD, computer didn't wanted to turn on. Computer was bought as refubrished but I don't think that caused the problem.
    I was using this movie

Motherboard is being changed to new one and I don't want to make this mistake again.

I will get my zen back in 2 days, where to look for this connector? I made few photos of motherboard and I can't find it.

Mine ux302lg just got back from the repair. Now i have new motherboard with Core i7 and 4Gb of ram :) And I'm after my upgrade. I used 8GB crucial memory and Crucial SSD MX100 256GB 2,5" so I confirm that they are working. Also I used KINGSPEC MSATA HALF SIZE SSD 64GB SATA III to upgrade small SSD.

Almost all notebooks have no tweaking options in the bios, try intel XTU.
