So the Asus Vivobook Pro N705UD has everything I want. An 8th gen U series quad core, a gtx 1050 which is perfect for 1080p gaming, both components sipping power and giving off little heat compared to full fledged gaming laptops, plenty of ports even ethernet, a mostly metal build, a thin (for a 17") profile, and best of all, probably the lightest weight at 4.6lbs I've seen for a 17 incher, the runner up being a gs73vr with the HD removed just slightly above 5lbs.

I'm not sure if its too new or what but can't find anything on it at all. I assumed it came out at the same time as the smaller 15" but don't really know.

Mostly want to know about screen quality.

I'm very interested in this machine too, but I noticed today that on the Asus website, the Specifications for both the N705UD and N705UQ say, "Weight: 4.6 lbs, *Disclaimer: It may differ by product specifications." That's kind of weird, since as far as I can tell, there are no customizations possible. Has anyone actually weighed one of these laptops?

It does seem that the light weight is due in part to a very small battery, plus poor access into the computer (easy access panels do add noticeable weight). So biggest downsides I see of this machine are 1) they copied the stupid no-tactile feedback Apple touchpad with no buttons, and 2) the battery life is bad, plus there is no battery access without removing a lot of screws, so you can't just carry a second battery, and 3) only HDMI 1.4!

I tried the Asus touchpad at a local store, and there are no tactile clues to which "button" you're thumb is over. The little line they show in the pictures is just a colored line, with no physical raised section. I guess they want you to look at your touchpad when you use it. In all fairness, I toured my local Best Buy, and almost every single company has ditched the trackpad buttons.

I am very sad about the inability to swap batteries, given their choice to undersize the batteries for this machine.

I'm disappointed they didn't go with HDMI 2.0. Wish more of the USB ports were 3.0. These are cost-cutting measures, I assume.

    I'll still probably buy it.

I've seen a Russian review saying its 2.2kg so close enough. The hdmi is still up in the air as the uq says only 1.4 but no word on the ud version which has a significantly more powerful gpu. I'm not too concerned about the battery since it is a u series cpu with optimus so it should get at least 4-5 hours.

Did any one of you guys purchased this already? I am also considering getting this and I have a couple of questions if you got it.
