So I just got the laptop today and when I unpacked the slim thing, I noticed there wasn't a user's manual came with it. I tried to look online to find the manual but with no luck. If anyone knows where I might be able to find it, please let me know. The reason I got this laptop is due to its portability and enduring battery life which greatly suits my needs. One thing I didn't know notice before I got the laptop was that the screen resolution is capped at 1366 by 768 which is a big jump from 1920 by 1200 on my pos Alienware. From my understanding that's the Native Resolution and forgive me for asking this silly question but is there anyway to tweak that native resolution to make it higher supposedly? Thanks in advance :)

Native resolution is determided by the video card and panel, there is no way to change it unless you want to lower it (800 x 600) for example, Check control panel - display and see if you are on 100 %, mine was set at 125 % when I first got it.
Also check change display settings in windows to verify you are on native.

Asus usually includes a driver/utilities disc with their computers. I say usually because they have started not to on some models. If you computer came with this disc that is where you'll find the users manual. If they did not include it with your model you can download it from Asus directly from their drivers section

I had to call the ASUS helpline when I opened my computer today. Would have been nice for the few instructions that came with the computer to direct us to the manual. Anyway, the manual is on the hard drive:
Windows Logo, All Programs, Asus Utility, eManual.

Does this laptop have a dedicated video card? And where is available for purchase? I live in Canada and have been calling around but no one seems to have even heard of it here.

Just purchased a U56E-RBL7 this afternoon. Also was looking for a hard copy of the users manual, or disc. Nothing in the box except the already mentioned 3 page how to power up.

Will see if it's on the h.d. as mentioned above.

Also, my U56-RBL7 model spec's a 1600x900 resolution. Did the BBL5 u bought spec the 1366x768 (i.e. u got what u thought were getting), or did it spec a higher res than you received?
Just trying to anticipate any issues before I power up.

    thanks

harbor, where did you buy the rbL7? do you have a link to specs for it? I cannot find anything, even on the office depot's site - where I saw this pc).

    also, is 1600 x 900 better than the 13somethking x 768 ?

    is there blu ray?

I just saw them for sale at Office Depot. I would like to know if the U56E BBL5 really does have a 1600x900 screen as advertised. If so, I think it will be my next laptop. If only it had a matte screen as well, it would be perfect for my needs.

just confirmed that the native rez is the typical 1368 x 7something. OD's link is completely inaccurate in this regard. source: bought the thing, at least for a two wk looksee , and caw the max rez
