Hi, just ordered this laptop (Walmart has it for $799). Anyhow, curious if any of you have upgraded the RAM to DDR4 3200? Shows on the Crucial site as guaranteed compatible with this model.

I figured faster RAM would help alleviate any bottleneck that the CPU might have on the 1660 Ti GPU.

You cant run 3200Mhz RAM, it will simply downclock to 2666 MHz or even 2400 MHz. There is no way to enable the XMP profile or adjust memory timings.

I've been eyeing these off for a while as I wanted a 15" for gaming when I'm not at my desk or travelling for work and are very well priced, and I'm tried of just bringing my Switch. I was a bit wary of the AMD/Nvidia combo not working but you guys seemed to have no issues, and the Freesync + Optimus combination was very interesting. I was after the 1660Ti but for an extra $150 I could get a 2060, NVMe SSD instead of SATA, and dual channel RAM instead of single channel. So far it's been great.

I cautiously updated the AMD and Nvidia drivers to the latest version, and Freesync is working. The 3750H boosts to 4GHz at 1.22V (and settles at around 3-3.3GHz when warm and in game) and the 2060 has worked with no problems (only tried Borderlands 3 so far - though it used the Vega iGPU until I forced the 2060 in NVCP). The fan noise and temperatures are reasonable considering the laptop form factor. Overall a pleasant experience so far.

Hey guys! Anyone have any experience with Linux on this machine? Very curious how that would play out. Wanted to keep w10 on the nvme and install another SSD for booting up with linux.
