    Hello all,

I bought one of this latest beast. Has any of you also ?

    - Repaste : done
    - Clean install : done => Media creation tool (USB drive)

    Questions :
    - my processor is always on max speed (3,8 - 3,9 ghz in XTU)
    - Does this laptop has optimus ?? (it should but I don't know how to set it yet)
    - I tried to reset and change my power settings to optimal settings : doesn't change anything
    - Armoury crate : doesn't work : where can I download it ? (Went on MS store, downloaded Armoury crate beta : no tabs to monitor anything)

From those links, it seems like Nvidia drivers are not optimized yet : performances are for some games as high as a GTX 1070 (laptop).

    Last words :
    - I can make a review if you want me to. For those who own one of this laptop, let's discuss about perfs and temps.
    - CPU cooling is not as good as for the GPU (temps are higher on average)

    Thx !

    Hey there!
Looking at one of those myself. If I’ll find one at the right price - will sure buy it.
Your review with pros/cons would be greatly appreciated.
    Meantime:
    There is no Optimus onboard.
I always set my power plan on Ult Performance

Looks nice. I want to hear the speakers. The GPU and CPU have different thermal throttle limits, max allowed temps. GPU is cooler because it has to be, it might be the reason for the asymmetrical heatpipe/heatsink/heatfin design.

    Hello,

Here is a quick review while for a complete test :

    - Screen is a AUO409D, 144hz : responsive as expected, good colors, no dead pixel
    - Before repasting : I got HUGE thermal throttling under XTU.
FYI : Asus' job on the thermal paste and pads are a real joke ! The paste was completely dry and spread on the sides. The pads were squished when I removed the rads.

    - Repasted, no notepad cooler : after a complete game of Insurgency Sandstorm, all settings maxout :
    a. CPU : min 33°C, max : 85°C, average : 66°C. Current : 44°C
    b. GPU : min 33°C, max : 77°C, average : 61°C

    - Fans are noisy compared to my GT72VR-6RE with GTX 1070 (average temp after a game of insurgency were around 70°C)
    - I got the version with i7 8750h, SSD 512 go, 16 go Samsung DDR4 => laptop is quite a beast to process anything

    - 3D marks score :
    a. Firestrike : 16 416 pts
    b. Time Spy : 7400 pts

    Nvidia drivers : 417.77

    So far :

    **PROS :
    - Very nice screen and response time
    - Laptop materials seem solid and quality
    - Pretty responsive (remember I'm from a GT72VR-6RE 6700hq, GTX 1070)
    - Scores on 3dmark are pretty goods

    **CONS :
    - Noisy fans (to mitigate : my GT72VR had a bigger chassis, this one is way slimer)
    - Currently, performance ingame are LOW (haven't seen ANY differences with my GT72VR => online reviews reported the same performance issues probably due to non mature drivers from Nvidia).
A bit disappointed on this side for the moments...

I’ll post some tomorrow after work :)

Yes I have a small bleed leak on the bottom of the screen but it does not bother me at all.

From my experience, I got and have tested so many laptops... I’ve never seen any perfectly black screen.

My current gt72 is way more bleeding than this one.

My real concern is the performance right now. Fps are not that high, kinda low for this new gen rtx... if nvidia releases new drivers in the next few days, i’ll keep you all in touch.

    Hello,

New Nvidia drivers came out yesterday for RTX (418.81).
I installed them and noticed increases of performance in game !

=> Insurgency Sandstorm with ultra settings had about a boost of 15 fps with those newest drivers !

What’s your FPS on max settings? I’ve had around 80-90 with 1060

Regarding the firestrike and yours 16 416 pts. I assume this is the general score? What is the graphics score? It should be around 19000
