    so this is the same as my AC5300 router but rebadged?

    Seems to be, but it might have newer software too, firmware to match.

    Does the back panel match your AC5300?

    It might be a bit of an upgrade, but I guess they couldn't add any more "Tarantula" legs, so they've stopped with this layout for now.

    There's something to say about a device that is popular enough to keep building, and there's been almost 2 years to optimize the firmware.

    I wonder if they use the same firmware? You could just use the new stuff to upgrade your AC5300 and gain some new features :)

    It looks good, the version tree from AC5300 to GT AC5300 looks like it's progressive in the same numbering:
