The Zephyrus G14 in the review is certainly a wrong choice
of opponent chosen in this review to compete with XMG Apex15

With it's slim profile, heat certainly build up in the Zephyrus G14
Causing it to throttle and affecting it's performance. Making it look bad.
A fair battle should be with the slightly thicker Tuf A15 which reviewed 2months ago.

No laptop with a mobile cpu can compete with a Apex 15. It's got a desktop cpu for crying out loud.

And the TUF A15 with its blocked air intakes has equally bad if not worse thermals compared to the Zephyrus

Lol comparing a 14" slim laptop against a 15" DTR with a desktop processor...

My G14 will be here tomorrow, here is to hoping I have some time to play with it this weekend...

And my desktop with its 9900K and 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra destroys the Apex15...

G14 and Apex15 are different beasts...

If you überboost the fans to 100%, I've seen the GPU temp drop down from 80°C to 73°C, with the lid closed AND at 26°C room temperature!

Of course it sounds like it wants to take off!

By the way, kudos to ASUS for implementing a battery charging feature that is not dependent on the laptop being powered on.

    Hello there!

    I am a proud new owner of a g14 with 2060 max q and 1080p screen.

I fired up doom eternal but i seem to be having performance issues. At 1080p and ultra settings i am only getting like 50 fps.

even if i lower to low settings it stays under 60 -

Any suggestions? Ive checked all the obvious stuff I believe so far.

    EDIT:

    Answered my own question!

Looks like not plugged in performance tanks. Plugged in im running golden.

Sadly work has been very busy so I haven't had a ton of time to mess around with the G14 but I am pretty impressed so far. CPU benches are better than my 1700x/2700x desktop setups. I've had pretty good results with a repaste as well. I'll try to get some actual data to show at a later date, but so far so good (except the keyboard backlight, lol).
