Darn it...ASUS Hungary said that there wont be a model here (at least this year) with 7820HK, only 7700HQ...does it make a huge difference for games if I go with a locked 7700HQ ? Would that bottleneck the GTX 1080 ?

Now that is a damning indictment of the 7700HQ+1070 combo. Nice work bro.

120Hz screen? 7700HQ bottleneck. 60Hz screen? No bottleneck. But I would never get such a weak CPU with a 1080 anyway, honestly. It's like buying a 1080 and pairing it with a R5 1500X which you won't OC and saying it's a great match

I deactivated my CPU's OC for my G701VIK. I do not suffer to be honest. I am much more happy with fixed 120fps and less fan noise + 65-70 degree celcius instead of OClocked 80-85 degree with a jet fan noise.

Most of my best laptops have all been over $3500, closer to $4500 when fully configured.

You really need to be committed to your desire to have that kind of device to spend that much money.

I still try to find the configuration with the best GPU / CPU without all the add-on's bumping up the price.

Asus sometimes never releases a lower configuration model, and sometimes they do. The Asus ROG G703VI-XH74K has 32GB memory and 512GB SSD, and is a well sized for RAM / storage, but likely not with the parts I would want to use.

With limited M.2 and RAM slots, you want to pair up 2 x 16GB and 1 x 1TB SSD or 2x 1TB SSD, although now there are 2TB M.2 SATA WD SSD's showing up, so that's an option to look for too.

I'd look for a lower priced configuration direct from Asus, or use a place like GentechPC to configure it as you like, which locks in the CPU / GPU option - sometimes you can miss out on Asus laptops due to short procduction runs and then have no follow up production runs.
