Darn, they pulled the video. And, I don't recall which channel posted it, and Youtube doesn't make it easy to find the channel from the deleted video link...I found another video and posted it, here it is:

Maybe it's just because it's a pre-order or does it come with a larger SSD?

Either way, it's too rich for my blood. I'd rather just spend 2k and upgrade every 2-3 years.

The rumored price is/was $2999, so it's a "big" bump in price surprise :)

Hopefully the price will correct as more places offer the Chimera.

What was the preorder price for G701vik with the same specs? I do not see big difference. I was expecting 4k and more.

Not from what the Notebookcheck review said:

"However, the total package is correspondingly expensive: The 17-inch device costs more than 3,000 Euros (~$3164). Our review unit with the model ending VIK-BA049T also has 32 GB of DDR4-RAM (2x 16 GB @2400 MHz) and an SSD-RAID that consists of two 256 GB M.2 drives. The display only comes with a Full HD panel, but it can make use of 120 Hz and Nvidia's G-Sync technology.

Another earlier review had the similarly configured G701 going for $2999, with a 2x512GB M.2 PCIE NVME RAID + 64GB for $3499, so that excaliberpc configuration should be $2999...

"The Asus ROG G701VI we reviewed cost $3,500 and came packed with a 2.7-GHz Intel Core i7-6820HK, 64GB of RAM, two 512GB PCIe M.2 SSDs set in a RAID0 configuration, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPU with 8GB of VRAM.

Asus sells one other configuration of the laptop: a $3,000 version with the same CPU and GPU, but 32GB of RAM and a single 512GB PCIe M.2 SSD."

So yeah, that ExcaliberPC listing is $500 too high :)

Well in Finland 16 gb ram and 256x2 ssd G701vik model is 3299€ to 3699€ time to time. When I saw 3599$, it didnt bother me so much if they really fullfil what is promised this time.

Keep in mind that Euro is a bit stronger against Dollar these days than a year ago, so I believe EU users will get that model slightly cheaper.

So off the wall question here, but how big of a difference does it make to go from 120 to 144hz? I got my 502vs to go from 60 to 120hz, and I could tell the difference, but I'm not sure how much different it would be to make a second jump to 144hz.
