On the 13.4 ATI driver, it says:

    "Cannot complete this action.

    Please try again."

    Is the link broken?

AMD pulled it from it's website due to black screens but now the 13.9 drivers are backup so they fixed it.

Is anyone with windows 8 having problems with the latest ati drivers? Currently I'm just using windows' default driver (WDDM 1.2), but for gaming reasons want the ati driver.
Installing ati's latest 13.9 (and the beta 13.11) driver causes my display to stop working (just get a black screen) when it should load the login screen. I had to do a system restore to get it working again.
It sounds like there was a similar issue that 13.9 fixed on win7 machines, just wondering if there was a fix for windows 8?

Edit: Updated to Windows 8.1 and now it works fine, just had to use the fn+backlight button to get the display to come on. ( Which may have been the problem before)

I am having problems with ATI's latest drivers, 13.9.
The main problem is that these are not 100% compatible with windows 8.1. In win 8.1 the brightness scale is not working properly, it is as if the brightness scale was set for only two levels, a "brightness" and a "zero brightness" levels. So from 70% and above, I can see the screen and the backlight works, but less than 70% on the brightness scale the backlight turns off and the screen goes dark.

Another thing I noticed, today (25th of October) if you go and check the drivers for Radeon HD 57xx (our n61jq graphics card) on AMD's site, you will notice that there is none available. So there are no official ATI drivers for our graphics card for windows 8.1.

Just to finish, WDDM 1.2 drivers on win8.1 also have the same brightness problem, but if you use WDDM1.1 that problem disapeears.

Any news on this please post here.

I installed the 13-4_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql drivers but the brightness scale still doesn't work properly. With the 13.4 the scale doesn't have any level, it is set always with the same brightness level.

    I don't user power4gear , I only use the "fn + F5" and "fn + F6" with the windows brightness adjuster.

    This sucks

Hello, I have the same problem with last ATI drivers 13.9 and 13.4. I realized that screen is almost black (with sunlight reflection you can appreciate a little bit the screen, but impossible to use the laptop) but if you connect it to a tv through HDMI, the image on tv looks perfect, but no image in the laptop. Could you tell me which drivers should I install, maybe the last of 12 series? Another question: is it worth to upgrate to windows 8 this machine?

    King regards.
