For those who having issues with Corsair Veneance RAM may want to check the IC on the module, they could be different on each batch they shipped and all major brands does that. It's probably why some worked and some doesn't:

My suggestion is get generic brand but with Micron IC, the Micron IC works without any problems:

For all those having problems with 16 GB on N56VZ !!

I had the same problem. My laptop wouldn`t boot with BIOS 204 or BIOS 211, so I personally called ASUS and told them about the problem. They knew about it and already had a BIOS lined up for those with this problem. You can find it here : NB-TSD Download (it is the 215 version) . It is not on the ASUS official website but the tech guy gave it to me and ensured me it is ok. So I installed it and I CAN CONFIRM IT IS OK ! My computer boots and it seems to be ok.

Does it work with the corsair vengeance brand or some other 16gb brand? And is your n56vz a ds71?

It works with the CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB CL10. DS71 or S4066V or S4035D are all the same (i7, 8gb, nvidia 650m 2gb). But I can now tell you that after 10 minutes of intense testing the laptop freezes. Talking to Asus again they said they have no current solution for this and that they expect a new BIOS to come up next week. Whether this is true ...I cannot say.

Did anyone notice that the freezes do not happen when you play games or otherwise test the N56VZ with the Integrated Graphics ?

The IC are not all the same, we also got Corsair Vengeance with Elpida IC J4208BBBG-GN-F:

    Corsair-Elpida.JPG

And a guy emailed me the picture of his Corsair Vengeance with Micron IC (D9PCP) that didn't work, his Micron IC is different than the Micron we have (D9QBJ):

There is no way to know what kind of IC you gonna get till you receive it, so shop by brand most likely won't work.

Maybe a modified BIOS with open RAM timings would help...
