This is an excellent breakdown and I concur with most.

@GenTechPC ~ have you encountered any issues w/ the CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10? You seemed quite high on this amny months back. Can you offer an update?

I also wonder if anybody has had any luck with the Mushkin 997038 A number of people on ROG recommend these sticks

If you want the highest performance you would have to stick with the 30nm samsung 4GB sticks, but if you are not overclocking it will make little difference which set you go for.

I was having the same problem with the screen freeze when I put another 8 gig stick memory in and was able to run 16 gigs my Asus N56 for some time and then the screen started to freeze up and then the only thing I could do was turn it off and boot back up. It would run for a while and then freeze again and then I just change back to 12 gigs and I have had no problem since?

Ressurecting this thread a bit. I just want to add a new ram that has micron D9QBJ chip (GenTech claimed it worked perfectly with n56).
Probably you want to double check it (or ask if possible) with the seller before buying
Patriot 1.35V PSD38G1600L2S as sighted in a japanese site: Patriot Memory PSD38G1600L2S
I have confirmed that the cpu-z data from that site also comply to the n56vz hyundai HMT351S6CFRC-PB stock except the voltage

Does the voltage matter? No, because 36xxQM also supports DDR3L. (Source)
Asus ROG G75 reported to work perfectly with 32gb mushkin 1.35v 11-11-11-28 except CR 2T where as always vegeance gives use random result. If you click on the newegg on that guy's post you might see mushkin also use micron chip (source)

Please buy with your own risk. I don't hold responsibility whatsoever. I'm also here gathering info before buying 16GB sticks

All DDR3l at the moment should also happily operate at 1.5v.

..that's probably why it works on the locked asus-settings.

Yes and no. Branded RAM modules uses different IC on different batch, you just can't tell until the stickers is removed. So far the only IC for 8GB stick that works 100% is the Micron D9QBJ.
