Review of the 17" Asus G771 here.
Note that it comes with GTX 860M but that is just because Asus can`t announce GTX 970M/980M yet because Nvidia haven`t announced the chips yet. But the notebook with 970M/980M will look the same

    Preview Asus G751 here

    Thanks for the info.
If that retailer's spec sheet is accurate, Asus cut nearly 2 pounds off of the G750 for the G751 and have made it more uniformly flat from the previous wedge shape. At 3.8kg/8.38 pounds, it's now the lightest of the three popular 17-inch gaming desktop replacements (along with the MSI GT72 and Alienware 17).
They're also ramping up the power brick wattage to 230 watts from 180, which is good.
The only thing that really bothered me about the G750 was the graininess and inaccurate colors of the screen. Maybe they'll properly factory calibrate this one. If they get things right, I'm going to be excited.

The G771 looks like Asus' first shot at the lighter weight market. The cooling worries me, though I've already lost hope in "gaming ultrabooks".

I dont think you should worry about the cooling. Asus is pretty good at this and the G771 and G751 are the new models so they should be better than G750.

Another thing is that 980M runs much cooler than GTX 880M so it the notebook will run nice and quiet. GTX 880M is 125W, 980M, who knows, 80-90W I think. While beating the 880M severely in games. It will be one awesome upgrade :)

Yeah I'm confident the G751's cooling will be up to par, especially with the new cards, considering the G750 supposedly runs cooler than even the MSI GT72.

If the G771 runs between 85-90 degrees with the GTX 860M (as the reviewer in that video claims), an already fairly easy-to-cool GPU, I'll pass on it. The MSI GS70 has been hot and toasty enough for me. :)

It is really nice to see Asus were able to cut nearly 1kg compared to the g750's. I would like to say that this is actually a 17.3" laptop instead of 15,6", although I prefer 15',6". As Extrospector said, if Asus can solve the graininess screen issue this will very likely be my next laptop. Hope I can get my hands on it before the end of this year :)

I think cloudfire made a typo, the GT751 and G771 are the 17-inch models.
