I though it would be best if we had our own 3D thread, because it could get ugly and disorganized without it.

Did no one pre-order the 3D version of the g53?

    Does anyone have an ETA?

I'm wondering if anyone had the previous 3D generation and their take on it?
    I CAN'T WAIT!

I've definately been thinking about purchasing one of these as a desktop replacement.

I find the 1920x1080 on the regular G53 to be a bit excessive.

I would like to hope that the 3de isn't as backed up in the preorders as the regular one so that if I do decide on it then I won't have to wait several months before I get it.

XoticPc posted the g53-3d on October 1st, so I doubt you will have any trouble getting it at launch.

My G50 has a 1366x768 and I'm pretty satisfied, a friend of mine has a 1080p Xps and it's a little too small for me, but it would have been nice to have a 1080p 3d screen.

I'm actually more afraid that the laptop has been delayed, it seems that way because we are so close to it's launch and yet we hear nothing, I have nothing to back this up but I guess I always expect the worst when it comes to waiting for gadgetry.

Hi, I've been doing some research on regards to the G53-3DE and I came across this forum.

I'm currently in the process of returning a G51JX-3DE that I purchased recently because it had problems with the HDMI port. Other than that, the machine was a beast and the 3d was so worth it!!!! It was a new dimension to gaming and I loved it!!!! I tried everything to make it work without having to return it but it just wouldn't work. It's going back today :(

Anyways, I'm already looking for the replacement and this is the best (probably the only) candidate that I have so far. Having used the 3d version of the G51 I just can't go back to regular screen anymore... 3d Vision is just that awesome!!!!! I was already in the process of replaying all my games in 3d, and planning on getting a good 3d-Blueray compatible movie on release day (since currently there aren't any available for purchase yet - until Nov).

Before I got the laptop I was also concerned about the low resolution (HD) because my previous gaming laptop was Full HD, but like other people said I have to admit Full HD on a laptop is a bit too much (sometimes it was hard to read things, I don't even think I kept it at that res actually).

The res on the G51 was more than enough and I thought to myself whenever I want to game on a higher resolution on 2d I can just hook it up to my HD tv via HDMI, or so I thought.

Man, I can't wait to get my hands on this new model... it can't come out soon enough. Well it's already 10/29/10 any ideas when it's coming out?

I agree with Mknight. 3D gaming adds a completely different dimension to gaming on a laptop that I just have never experienced before. The lower resolution screen almost didnt matter as the depth that I felt when demoing this model was enormous. Of course it would be cool to run 3D at FHD, but the GPU would have to be higher end to run it at any sort of high quality setting. All that said for me in the end I cant handle it because I am blind as a bat without my glasses and wearing 2 pairs of glasses gets too heavy and gives me a headache. Unfortunately contacts arent an option for my eyes.

Also by the way this model has already been released, just in really really small quantities. I believe that we wont see high quantities in the US until probably the third shipment early December. I cant fill you in on the shipment coming next week as I havent seen allocation numbers yet.

The more I read about people that have experienced the 3d models, It makes me want to get one, but I like the higher resolution of the non 3d model.

I guess it would be nice knowing I dont have to jack the resolution up to 1920x1080 and get less performance though.

Does anyone have a list of games that support 3d? Id like to know if COD: Black ops and some of the future games support 3d.

It sounds like your eyes came from the same bad batch as mine. Having to buy prescription ski goggles, sun glasses, bike glasses, etc gets expensive.

I had a chat with the Sony and RealD teams while they were at our office this summer. Apparently prescription 3D glasses are starting to appear on the market but they don't expect them to be widely available until next year.

The important detail for me is the prescription glasses, that I know of, can work with ATI's 3D solution (as its decoupled from a specific implementation) but won't work with the NVidia specific solution. I'm sure if the market grows big enough someone will make prescription 3D glasses compatible with NVidia. This keeps me from buying the G53-3DE and sticking with the normal version. All while keeping my sub-standard eyes on ATI or the availability of prescription NVidia 3D vision glasses.

You could take a look at the HP envy 17 3d. I just ordered one.
    It has a 1080p panel.

Can you get a Full HD playing games or movies only with 2D with the G53jw 3D?

No, the panel in G53-3DE is 1366x768 and it can't magically change to 1920x1080.
