They did away with the 16:10 screen, bummer. A slight length/width shrink wouldn't hurt it either, it's about the size of a 17" notebook.

Looks like the same chassis design as the G50, but why White, yes it does look muck better than the G50 but White.
Specs look very, very good, nice upgrade over the G50 especially the Quad core support.
I wonder if BB will release a version of this, if they do I really hope the lightning pattern is gone.
    Wonder when it's being released?

Love most of the specs but...

7.2lbs with one hard drive :(
DDR2800 and only 4gb max ram support :(
    1.35"-1.6" thick :(

Why is it only 4gb max if the PM45 chipset supports 8gb max??

All of those nice features make it sound like it won't quite be the budget price of the current G50vt's.

Oddly enough, the website shows support for a 16" screen as well. Also mentions dual HDD support.

However, I can't help but wonder what Asus' designers were smoking when they came up with stuff like this.

    Does he get credit?

Though backlight does somewhat do the calibration for the position of your hands, relative to position of keypads.

I guess fingerprint shows less easily on the white paint.

The page does not list the support for QX9300 neither, :) but does for Q9100 and Q9000; thus I'm almost certain it will support QX9300, if you put one in.

Just as I'm pretty sure you can put 8GB in there, you can get it to work:) Its just not likely that Asus will be selling 8GB ram config in any default models

I am glad I waited to order G50v now. This laptop looks like the right steps pretty much from G50, minus the 16-9 resolution. However, that can be ok, especially if Asus offers 1920x1080 res. In short, woot, hope it will come in around $1500 nicely loaded (4GB, 260, 320gb 7200, 1080p screen, backlit keybaord0.
