So I have the 4965g installed & with the drivers from Intel
made it easy. Still I have one terminal open and that being
"t3". If I have this right, some members are running this
same WIFI card using all avail ports or terminals.

Is there a way I can wire my 5315 which
only has two wires which I have hooked to T1 AND T2 into
the T3 port and maybe get all avail options covered ?

Can I jump a wire from the T2 into the T3 to see what
happens without damage to the laptop ?

Please enlighten. With help from members and mods here
this old laptop just purrrrs, but I like old hotrods IE making
    this older 5315 run.

    Thanks
    Bob

Hi everyone! Thanks to this forum i was able to upgrade my Acer!
    My configuration is now :
    CPU: T9500
    RAM: 2 gigs
WiFi & Bluetooth BT Mini PCI-E Combo Card
    Webcam integrated
    64 gb ssd hdd

I tried to install win 7, but it fails to boot. I get black screen when i turn on the power. I have to turn off and try again. Sometimes I need to repeat this many times. When I manage to boot in, everything runs normal, the sistem is stabil ... I like the way win 7 runs on may ACER 5315.
Anyone knows what may cause this? The exact reason...or what test should I do to find the problem.
Another problem is on Win XP... when i replaced the old celeron CPU with the new T9500 i was expecting a big difference but I not impressed, not at all.. All i`m thinking is maybe I have the wrong drivers. My ssd hdd should help more isn`t it??
Do I need drivers for HDD? In bios I selected IDE MODE. I wish I can select AHCI mode but I don`t exactly how to to that.(If someone could explain in details how to do it i`ll be very happy)

    QUESTIONS:

    1. About drivers: where can I find the best drivers for xp for my Acer 5315. Updated drivers.
    2. Because I have the T9500 CPU, do I need to change the chipset drivers or something else?
    3. Does anyone knows there can i find to buy a power jack to fit the charger. A link will be nice:)

    THANKS EVERYONE!!!

I think I posted this is the wrong thread so I am posting it here again. sorry if that is bad, it's late and I need to go to bed. anyway...

Hi all, I recently acquired an Acer Aspire 5315-2153.

CPU-Z shows my chipset is GL960. Currently my CPU is the stock Celeron M 530. I threw in 2 GB of RAM and I've already upgraded my BIOS to 1.45.

What is the fastest processor I can upgrade to?

Also I would like to go ahead and upgrade the hard drive. Can this thing handle a 300GB or more drive?

    Thanks,
    cash22

Up to Core 2 Duo T9500, and any HDD size that physically fits shall work. The days of BIOS-based HDD size limitations are long gone.

Are you sure? I thought that T9500 is Socket P Processor, I think he can go up to T7600 but I could be wrong.
EDIT: Sorry, I was wrong, I forgot the chipset which is GL960. My apologies.

Go for a T7300, very cheap and you'll be happy.

Well I goofed and bought a T8300 before I realized that just because the numbers were higher than the T7000 series doesn't mean they are better. I might get a T7300 anyway.

    Hey Bigozone,

    I've got a question.

I have the Acer Aspire 5315.
Could I upgrade this laptop from my current processor:

    Celeron M 560 - 2.13 GHz, 1 Mb, 533 MHz, P

    To a:

    Core 2 Duo T7100 - 1.8 GHz, 2 Mb, 800 MHz, P?

EDIT: Also, does anyone know where I can buy these "older" Processors?
All I can think about are used product sites.
