thanks, so what happens if you install a 800mhz/677mhz cpu on a 533mhz chipset? does it work to its full capability?

also ram, i have 2GB DDR2 533? Mhz ram. Now i have read on this thread i believe than any higher speed ram is not compatible. True?

the T5850 seems reasonable enough from the list. I'll try to find it cheap :)

    I have T7500 on a GL960 and it works at 800Mhz FSB.

About the RAM - you can use a 667Mhz one, it should work. You can use even faster RAM but it will downclock to 667Mhz.

No. Someone tried to install Intel 4965 but I don't remember how that went. I'll try to find that thread, I'll update this post if I find it.

Edit: Found it, apparently 4965AGN DOES work:

I have tested the AR5006EG (marked as Toshiba card :p) and 4965AGN in my 5315 and both worked perfectly. Regarding the 4965AGN, the Wifi LED worked, but not with the AR5006EG. It seems to be by the age of the card AR5006EG, one generation behind the original AR5007EG. But the glamour of the AR5006EG is: one of the best Wifi cards for Wifislax ;)

Either way, with the 5006EG, everything works except the LED. I think you can install any wifi card, because the only companies that restrict the wifi card are HP/Compaq and Lenovo. My old Compaq V2000 is nothing but a BIOS error at start with a card that is not Broadcom... His counterpart, Hp Dv1000 with Intel 2200bg, don't start with a non-Intel card...

Also, i have upgraded to a 500GB HDD Toshiba ;)

PS. I'm writing this post, connected with the 4965AGN.

    ok... thanks for answer.
so the motherboard/chipset cant support that fsb 1066mhz?
i think that this is penryn cpu (http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=209284) p8600
only difference whit P8600 and T8300 that i found is the FSB bus speed 1066mhz/800mhz and VID Voltage Range

    hi mates.
i've decided to upgrade my 5315's cpu with an intel T2300 (1.66ghz, core duo, 2M L2, 800mhz fsb). should it work fine? think i've got to upgrade my bios first, of course. thanks in advance.

T2300 is a socket M and it will NOT work!

Check the link from my previous post to see a list with compatible CPUs.
