In my memory, Panasonic is a TV brand rather than a notebook brand~
I could not remember that I have seen any Panasonic notebook in Bestbuy or Circuit City~
It might be a popular brand in Japan or Asia,
But I do not think it is a popular brand in US~

Even you look at the number of posts in this forum,
The Panasonic has less posts than all other brands~

It's mainly sold in Eurasia, but the ToughBook is the only ones I've seen around NA

they don't do well selling through retail outlets and you won't find them there, you can order online and they are available in North America, they in fact recently did a big ad campaign here in NYC for their notebooks. Too bad the ads were stupid.

They are nice notebooks, but expensive.

Snow, we just set up this forum barely more than a week ago, but yes, it's not a widely known brand. They make a series of rugged machines that are great, if you have that need. They also have a bunch of thin and lights. We reviewed one recently.

i was just at CompUSA today to look at some laptops and they had a toughbook there. Felt pretty heavy duty, and I like the spill resistant keyboard (i am prone to spilling stuff)

I think his question was are there any sellers/resellers here in the States that sell Panasonic laptops. I personally tried to find some myself and was unsuccessful, but that certainly doesn't mean they're not out there.

Anyone know of a place in North America that they can be purchased?

    I would recommend dynamism.com:
Expensive, but the imported models have better specs than the US models.

Alternatively, you could always order from Panasonic.com

In Canada, London Drugs stocks them...
Elsewhere (retail outlets...) I'm not sure.

    Cheers,
    -M.

I have seen them on MWave site, also a great dealer in So.Calif. is Global Computers.
If you do a Froogle search you will bring out the on-line dealers that re-sell them.
Also, if you have a local shop that buys wholesale from Ingram Micro they have them for VARs. The reason for the lack of exposure is certainly all of the above. Another reason is that they are still built in Japan were labor costs are higher, thus the higher price.
