    Hi Folks,

Looking for advice of repasting the CPU and GPU on my AORUS X5v6. From the reviews I've read the Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra Thermal Paste seems to be most effective but is corrosive to certain metals (ALU)?

Would this be ok for my AORUS?

Also looking for some thermal pads for my 960 EVO SSD's to help with temps too.

    Open to advice and suggestions.

    Thanks.

It can but you're right that it can cause more problems if it gets off the die. Be extra careful when applying it. Also, the difference in temp is a lot harder to predict in laptops from what I've seen, so if you're worried about application problems go with something easier to apply.

Hello haha we meet again. What i have learnt from liquid metal enthusiasts on the forum is to use electrical tape around the dies on the substrate of the CPU and GPU. Its sort of an insurance policy in case any leak occurs considering liquid metal being conductive and what not. Apply a small drop and spread it out as evenly as possible until you get a sort of mirror like finish/reflection. Worked perfectly on my P150SMA barebones i use. Also for CLU, cut off all but around 1/8th of the bristles on the included brush. It lessens the amount of paste that will be caught up and wasted in it. For regular paste i personally prefer Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. It has given me the best performace out of all the regular pastes that i have used (IC Diamond, Gelid GC Extreme and AS5) and the applicator that comes as a sort of nozzle on the larger tube skew helps a ton in repasting.

That's very helpful. And seconded on the kryonaut, I'm leaning towards it for my next couple of builds coming up.

@Jared_T pretty much covered all the normal ones, one of the builders here swears by Tuniq TX4 on his own builds, I haven't heard enough about to say either way.

I've got the liquid ultra ordered so will give it a tentative go with some electrical tape as advised.

My 6820HK isn't pushing past 4.3Ghz so hopefully this will either help push further or drop temps a little (currently maxing 88°C).

Good luck! Post temps when you've got it repasted. :)

Yes please update us! Your rig is an X5 right? I'll be receiving my X7 within a week or 2 and will be repasting with Kryonaut as i havent had access to liquid metal pastes for a while now

I will follow your progress with interest MiSJAH! I have followed you both here and on ocuk. For the longest period of time I have been looking at the Aorus X5/X7 vs the GS73/63. I currently have a barebone GS63 ordered(Couldnt be bothered to wait for the V7's.)

But ill still follow your progress with much interest! Who knows I still might pickup a 17" :D
