Just figured I’d chime in, it’s been a while since I’ve posted on here. I still have my Aorus X7 V7 4K model running at 4.7Ghz daily.

I see no reason to upgrade to a V8 model, or anything else for that matter.

I’ve been putting in a lot of hours on Kingdom Come Deliverance after updating to 1.43, with HD texture pack and starting a whole new character.

KDC at 1440P, everything on Ultra detail, all maximum view distances with maximum Anti-Aliasing, and HD textures ON, provides a smooth 28-48 FPS.

It is a beautifully smooth lag free experience thanks to G-Sync!

I love this laptop, “Knock on wood” it hasn’t uttered the slightest lick of trouble since I bought it!

    Aorus FTW!

So anyone else on the latest EC? My video card disappeared after updating and now it's not longer recognized.

My daughter spilled s drink on my x7 V7 4K. It shut down, and would not boot.. only power on, with no display signal..

I blew it with a heat gun real good, until it was very hot to the touch.

Fortunately it has started working again! A couple mushy feeling keys from the drink, but all is well! And I’m getting a USB device failure warning box on boot in windows. But everything works fine.. I’m not sure what it could be?

Anyways, I feel lucky! It was orange Hawaiian Punch that dumped in the left top keyboard, fan, power button area..

I’m up and running though, playing FARCRY 5, still at 4.7ghz! It’s a miracle!

You, my friend are a very lucky man. In 9 out of 10 cases, you would be stuck with a dead laptop. Glad yours pulled through :)

I think it was the super reflexes lol. I’ve been waiting for this day, hoping it would never show it’s self.

I was literally sitting there playing Farcry 5, and out of no where a cup of drink hit the computer all over the keyboard.

I had stood up, unplugged it, with the laptop flipped over holding it keyboard down, while holding the power button to shut it off before my daughter even knew where it spilled.

Now, I’ve just gotta finish popping these keys off, and cleaning the rubber gaskets in the keyboard. They have a slight reset delay due to the sugar gumming them up.

It just says this error after every boot in to windows or restart. “USB failure this device is not recognized” I dunno, I click “OK” and all is well and I continue to use it trouble free, all USB plugs work, audio plugs work, sound works, and every other device, or plug for that matter. I’ve literally checked everything. So, I dunno what windows thinks has failed. It’s not a big deal. I may try a clean install to clear it up.

Hi guys, love to read you and learn a lot since years.

Just ordered a x5 v7 and have some questions.

As I have read from you:

    1. Buy an intel 9260 wifi card.
    2 undervolt cpu and gpu
3 repaste with LM or 1st class paste.

Anything else? change thermal pads on memos/vrm???

any guide for this particular laptop about pads thicknes, and mods to get the max performance/lower consumption and noise???

    thx

1- Not that important but at least its cheap.
2- This is a must do, this will improve the performance and noise considerably.
3- I don't recommend LM, while it will lower the temperature a lot you'll run the risk of a dead laptop if it escapes from the CPU die.

These are very good laptops, I love mine. And I have had nothing but a positive experience thus far.

If you have the Killer 1535 Wifi card, first things first go in to the device manager and change its roaming aggressiveness to (0) = the lowest possible setting. This will get rid of any latency issues, and resolve the weak signal problem, it will also fix any other issues it may have. And it works perfect! And I see no reason to change it!

Under volting the CPU is required, you should be able to achieve a steady 4.3Ghz single core boost, and a 4.0Ghz all core boost while running a -0.110 to -0.140 undervolt pretty easily. Repasting will help, if you use liquid metal you can achieve as high as 4.8Ghz on all (4) cores if you use the right settings. But, you need to use clear nail polish to cover any nearby contact points that could cause a short circuit.

I ran my X7 V7 at 4.71Ghz for about 3 months straight 24/7 use! I just took it down to inspect, and I was going to reapply the liquid metal, but I couldn't find it.. So, I had to just use standard paste. And now I'm back down to a lower overclock.

Ive found that the GPU runs really cold in these laptops. Even with stock paste, in the most demanding of any game available @1080p 55-62C was about the maximum. I run 4K so temps push a little higher, but never exceeding 65C even while overclocked to the highest it can possibly go!

You can get these laptops to outperform a GTX1080 equivalent laptop with the right overclocks right out of the box, before even repasting the GPU, and CPU.

you can get near 21,000 graphics in firestrike. And get SUB 17,000 overall in firestrike. These numbers easily pass a healthy running stock GTX1080 system. And simply obliterate a GTX1080 Max Q laptop.

This all requires the right tinkering, and OC profile to get the system to this kind of level. But, its possible!

I would wait before doing anything regarding the wifi card; if it gives you issues then take action. I'd recommend downloading latest drivers directly form killer's site. I've had no issues on mine; only thing I've done is changed the roaming aggressiveness to 5 since I have a mesh network at home and work.

Easiest way to tell, is run BF1 with the latest drivers and see if you get random connection drops. it was a nightmare racking up all of these points and warbonds In a server, for you to just be kicked out due to a high ping right before the server ends. And you lose anything you earned before the game finishes..

My internet is pretty fast, i get right at about 12.5 Megabytes per second actual download speed. It is 200mbps internet. And my Ping is usually around 28ms.

With it set to high aggressive or level (5) my ping will sit around 50ms or so in game, and spike to 300ms randomly.
