I found a 2011 MBP for super cheap and with all the BS I'm reading about the gpu headaches with amd I am going to just buy a 2012 logic board with an ivy bridge.

Anyone tried this on here? And if so do I need to do anything special? So far I'm thinking I just need the motherboard and heatsink.

Long as you're not trying to put a Retina logic board into a classic chassis, I don't see why it wouldn't work. The only real concern would be if the location of the LCD cable were drastically different, then you might have to pick up a new one of those.
