Anyone know a (working) pin-mod guide for Socket M Meroms ?

    A member of the ocforums.com states in his sticky that he pin moded his T7200 to run @ 2.4Ghz (i.e. FSB from 667mhz to 800mhz). I posted in the ocforums to enquiry about it and no one replied that what this guy has done is impossible. It seems that the Bsel[0] = H, Bsel[1] = H, and Bsel[2] = H would allow the 800mhz FSB.

    This pin mod was on a gateway MT3705 laptop with the ATI X200 chipset. From the specs of this chipset it supports a 200 fsb. My current laptop is the Gateway MX3101 which has the same mobo as the MT3705. I did won't to test if it can be done because:
    1- I don't have another laptop and can't afford to get a replacement in case I fry mine
    2- My current CPU is the T2500 (667mhz) Bsel [2] [1] [0] = L H H. So I need to turn the Bsel [2] to high. I don't know how to do it without breaking the pin in my CPU (Once the pin is off, I think I will have to connect Bsel[2] to [1] or [0] directly in the socket.
    3- I don't know what of the following is true: to get an H
    a- breaking the pin in the CPU and connecting the Bsel to a Bsel with and H output.
    b- connecting the Bsel to a Vcc without breaking the pin in the CPU.
    c- connecting the Bsel to a Vcc with breaking the pin in the CPU.

    hold on... SO it is Bsel [2] [1] [0] = H H H is POSSIBLE?
    What is the chipset in your Acer?

    I guess since the Celeron uses only one multiplier you didn't run in the problem of locking your CPU on it's lowest multiplier (i.e. x6) after pin mod :)

    What was your setting? what bsel did you mod? to waht did you connect it?

    I don't really remember. I did that about a month ago.

    I think I connected BSEL [1] and [2], to the adjacent Vss/Vcc, or whatever that is. I think the info is in the datasheet.

    Intel's datasheet for Yohan/Merom doesn't have any information about FSB 200 mhz (unless I'm mising something?)

    From the above (and if I understand well) your pin mod combination for FSB 200 is (please confirm):
    Bsel[2] Bsel[1] Bsel[0]
    -- H ---- L ----- H --

    Andy I know that you won't lose anything by trying, but from all the posts I read a while ago, the pin mod on CoreDuo from 133mhz to 166mhz seem to work only with ATI Chipsets. Intel Chipset have tendency to lock the CPU on it lowest multiplier. I remember a guy testing his CPU on both an intel based laptop and on an Ati based one. The mod worked perfectly on the ATI one but not in the Intel one. On the intel based one (although he got the 166mhz) his CPU was running at 1.2ghz all the time. After several experiment he did (other people too), the disgarded the BIOS and the OS as the cause of the lock.

    I'm welling to thing that any CoreDuo and Core2Duo can have its frequency and voltage modified via Pin Mod. Unfortunately, most stuff available on the net are based on modding desktop CPUs (since they are pinless; they are easy to mod). In addition, the information available out there is sonfusing about what is safe and unsafe to do :confused:

    So have a go and let me know if it work (needless to say plz describe all the steps)... if it does I'll have a go myself to both pin mod to get a 200 fsb and volt mod to undervolt :)

    Nice find naton.

    I believe that is solely for Socket Ps.

    LHL is reserved for M Meroms.

    I still dunno how to go from L to H.

    H H L = 400
    H L L = 333
    But only for Socket P...
