I am looking at firing up my old macbook with cloudready on it. I plan on putting 4gb of ram in it, a 256gb ssd and new battery. Anyone use cloudready on their old iron?

I have no idea. The only Apple products I have experience with are iPhones and I despise them. I only have experience with iPhones because that is what my employer provides. I use an iPhone 5 days a week and hate it. I will never use my own money to purchase one. I have no plans to ever own a Mac computer. Everything the brand stands for is at enmity with my values. I used to toy with the idea of having a Hackintosh simply because doing so is an act of defiance against a brand that I hold in contempt.

    It's just a phone/computer. Relax.

LOL. I don't like the phone or the company. Just gave a clear explanation of why I have no idea.

No, but it is on their certified models list, so it should work.

I had looked at putting it on a friends macbook pro 2012, but just felt the 1280x display would be too limiting these days, and would be better off selling it and using that money for something else.

For a main computer, probably not. I am doing this just for fun. I have my awesome dell computer as my daily driver which I love. It's getting passed down to my son in the fall and I am getting the new xps 13 2 in 1 when it's released. At least this machine will stay in the family. ha ha.

Just to bump this one up, I am creating the USB installer now for the 3.1. I have a 2tb drive in it so I should have plenty of room for everything.

Ok, Cloudready is terrible. I am guessing chromeOS is too. That was painful to even try to use.
