Yes 1200 CAD.. For a bit more, might as well build your own desktop with one..

For a single 1070 it would make more sense to buy the Eurocom Tornado F5 (a really decent and affordable little 15 inch mini-beast) with 6700K at $1666 USD. I really like how it is made. It puts the MSI equivalent to shame in so many ways. And, it's slated for 7700K and 1080 upgrades in the not-too-distant future.

Want to ask about Eurocom Tornado F5

If the M.2 960 NVMe is going to throttle (heat) like it's predecessors, I'll stick to 2.5" SATA for the OS drive.

Heavy usage/performance; SanDisk Extreme Pro 960GB. Older gen but still mops the floor against all comers. $300-350.

    Light usage - price / 850 EVO.

    No choice but M.2 - 850 EVO

    MX300 or X400 - planar TLC - storage only.

Do they have a 17" version of this? I either want this or I'll get a P870DM, no GPU, for $1400 (has 6700k, 16gb ram, 250gb ssd, 1tb hdd)

No 17 inch model exists for that chassis.

Reports are the 960 Pro handles the heat better than the 950 Pro.

I just feel somewhat underwhelmed by this year's models; I was hoping for desktop Pascal (which was somewhat fulfilled) and a change in chassis instead of just mobo change.

Now I wonder what my next move should be...

In Laptops? I hope it is better.

It seems Samsung has taken some steps. A copper layer in the sticker to spread heat. This seems to extend the time until throttling. "DTG (Dynamic Thermal Guard) monitors and adjusts the temperature of the SSD." Sounds like, possible, built in throttling.

So, if the 960s only delay throttling, I'm still with the 2.5" SATA in a laptop, for now.
