When I checked manually in the registry under HKEY_CURRRENT_USER there are folders from previously uninstalled programs. I wanted to get rid of all those leftovers but doing it manually by checking each folder in the registry is a hassle.

Both CCleaner and Revo Uninstaller did not do a very good job. They don't fully delete those folders in the registry.

I use the free "Auslogics Registry Cleaner" Make sure to untick the bloatware during the install, And avoid any of their other software.

I have been using this for a couple of years on Windows 10 x64 and have had zero problems, I run it a couple of times a week or after i uninstall software.

ESET NOD32 seems to detect it as a potential unwanted application.

If this is false I thought that ESET NOD32 doesn't give any false positive.

ESET has the least amount of false positives and that is NOT a false positive, it is simply detecting that it has PUPs in the installer (Potentially Unwanted Software) which you can opt out of, just don't blindly hit next and everything, make sure you look at what checkboxes are ticked when installing it.

With that said, even if you get rid of those obsolete registry entries, you will NOT gain any performance benefits, it's just to cure your OCD :D

I never have such entries because I use Uninstall Tool to uninstall programs which it then scans for their leftovers and cleans them without messing other stuff like a registry cleaner might do since it does aq full scan and sometimes can get rid of valid registry entries causing irreversible damage.

You can also try Revo Uninstaller Free when uninstalling programs

ESET is the least paranoid AV, gotcha. Yeah, that really cured my OCD. loool

Which of the two uninstaller do you prefer the most? Their paid version seems to be almost the same in price.

They are both good but Uninstall Tool has a better Windows Store app uninstaller which gets rid of their leftovers. The Revo Uninstaller one breaks some apps from the Windows Store when you remove others, its more aggrssive that's why I switched to Uninstall Tool Portable Edition so I can use it on multiple computers without the need to install it even. portable apps FTW

Avast Premier and Malware Bytes dont seem to mind "Auslogics Registry Cleaner" on my system, Maybe it`s the bloatware i mentioned to untick.

I use CCleaner portable. No need to install and no PUP.
