I am looking for a thin, lightweight but moderately powerful and below $1000 laptop and Asus UL30Vt fits my needs perfectly. But it seems entire UL series and several others from different brands like SXPS 13, DM3 etc seem to have very glossy screens.

So wondering if anything is out there (or getting released soon) with a matte screen, any video card other then Intel and a price similar to the above models?

    Thanks.

Pretty much all consumer notebooks have glossy screens. Either consider an anti-glare or anti-reflective screen protector or business notebooks such as Dell Latitude E4300 or Lenovo X301.

@rexian - just so you know i am in the same boat as you. There aren't much matte screens out there, except for the Lenovo's that cost in excess of $1500.

Business notebooks can be found in outlets for far cheaper.

Thanks guys. I got used to my my previous work laptop (Latitude D620) screen (not too good) but still liked my personal E1705. But after D620 was replaced by an HP 6730b (much better screen), and I don't see how I'd ever use a glossy screen again. But for $1500, I'd definitely want a core i7, not 2 year old models. Too few options, what's so great about these glossy screens?

sgogeta4: Any model do you have in mind? Any C2D with discrete graphics and matte screen would do as long as it's within $1k and is about ~1" thick. Sorry, I know too many constraints :(
