bleeping computer is a reputable site; following those instructions will probably work well.

Don't know exactly what the virus does, and hope never to find out for sure. Good luck with the removal.

Hi all! rob and spiff. I think OP should follow the links. But want to use the stage to say. There are people who know much about computers and don't use anti virus. If one is careful of the sites they visit, what they download and most important! Don't run executables! Even anti virus can't help. These email viruses are spread by user action not some dark mysterious voodoo. Sorry to OP but wanted to share. Hope all goes well.

I was just reading a post about Antivirus 2009 over at Wilders. It took Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware and Avast to get rid of all traces. All free and worth installing.

My little brother's PC just got this Anivirus XP 2008 spyware a few days ago, and I can confirm that Malwarebytes will remove it.

mmk it worked to remove it, but he still can't uninstall programs on his computer for some reason. I'm going to do some reasearch and may just resort to a system factory restore

    chesieofdarock,

I've moved your thread to the Security and Anti-Virus Software section. You should receive better help there.

    Good luck.

That's cool but not any one anti malware program catches everything.
