Another I need help on buying a new notebook

    1) What size notebook would you prefer?
    b. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
    c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen

    2) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
    Web surfing, gaming, carrying lots of mp3 (djing us), music recording or editin/ producting music

    3) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

    Sony whore but if can offer what im lookin for others will do!

    9) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?



    a. XGA = eXtended Graphics Array; 1024x768; This resolution will give you the largest viewable text and images while offering the least amount of screen real estate.


    b. SXGA = Super eXtended Graphics Array; 1400x1050; This resolution offers a middle ground between XGA and UXGA.

    c. UXGA = Ultra eXtended Graphics Array; 1600x1200; This resolution will give you the smallest viewable text and images while offering the greatest amount of screen real estate.

    d. WXGA = Widescreen eXtended Graphics Array; 1280x768 or 1280x800; This resolution offers the same as XGA except that there is more horizontal real estate; 1280 versus 1024. Popular for movie viewing due to support for widescreen.

    e. WXGA+ = Widescreen eXtended Graphics Array+; 1440x900; This resolution is offered on 17” widescreen notebooks and is comparable to WXGA in terms of text and icon size versus available screen real estate. Popular for movie viewing due to support for widescreen.

    f. WSXGA+ = Widescreen Super eXtended Graphics Array; 1680x1050; This resolution is comparable to SXGA in that it offers a middle ground between WXGA/WXGA+ and WUXGA. Popular for movie viewing due to support for widescreen.

    g. WUXGA = Widescreen Ultra eXtended Graphics Array; 1920x1200; This resolution offers the smallest viewable text and images while offering the greatest amount of screen real estate.

    Couple I would look at are the Acer Ferrari or Asus Z70va.

    How about the Asus V6Va?...or Asus W3V?
    Great looking machines that offer great performance. Well within your budget.

    I like CanadaSys.com - Canada's best Asus dealer. See if you are near one of their locations so you can go take a look.

    Acer Ferrari is a good pick for games as well, with the AMD Turion processor. I recommend reading one of the two reviews on this site for the Ferrari to get a better idea about it. :)

    Well im in hong kong right now and i went to a computer store but they didnt have asus buy they told me to check out the Toshiba Satellite M50 it was about 11xxx hkd which is about 1700 cnd and 1430 usd. i dont know much about toshiba but is it better then asus?

    Toshiba notebooks are sub-par. I wouldn't touch one with a 50ft pole.

    CanadaSys.com is an Asus dealer - check them out.

    bump its a new year something new has to come out
    ive checked out the sites but i still havent got a notebook yet... but also an little update i also need a notebook that come with ms office for work ;) so send some more rec.

    asus is comin out with the new intel core duo processor ( believe the model i was lookin was A6) but the acer's new travelmate looks very powerful also.. so help me on the goodies, im back in hongkong now so i gotta get something by this weekend

    after shoping around couldnt find the acer tm8200 and the asus a6 not out.. so im back to square one.. im thinkin of makin a trip to taiwan and get one. most of their laptop runs ati x300 or x600 so no luck so far :(
