    I think it's safe to guess that this is the launch lineup:

    7870 = 7970M
    7850 = 7950M
    7790 = 7870M
    7770 = 7850M

    Then the 7890 releases in Q2, later to be seen as the 7990M?

    If I'm right, this next generation will truly be a huge leap ahead of the current 6000M.

    Looks good. Hope they are still in MXM 3.0b format.

    Seems like that's a possibility, but 7890 will never be a mobile chip, 384bit+GDDR5 is out of control for notebooks, even for fat 18" models. Also keep in mind they will have 28nm for the next 2 years, so they possibly want to do something like they did with the 5870M and 6990M.

    Looking forward to see a Cape Verde mobility chip in my next notebook!
    I would also like to see a 192bit+GDDR5 mobile chip

    Good point on the 384-bit. Though I suppose they could easily just chop it down to run on a 256-bit interface instead, more suitable more the mobile environment.

    I think the 7850 will be the 7970M underclocked at 800/1000. I just hope Asus uses it in their next G series. Or I'll be looking at a Clevo instead this year.

    oh no, I misread it, I think 7870 is 7990m, well, it is still ridiculously good for mobile environment :)

    I will be incredibly disappointed if the 7850 is the 7970M, as that's barely an improvement over the 6990M's core count.

    And I wouldn't expect to see Asus using an expensive, 100W card in their notebooks, as they haven't done it yet.

    Shaders would be clocked higher + you cannot compare the old 5VLIW and the new GCN architecture from ATI. The last one is MUCH faster with the same core count

    7870/7850 will not be GCN, GCN will only be in the 7900 desktop. The VLIW 4 was only used in the 6900 desktop series, so it will be new for mobile.

    Unfortunate even with 7970 shipped for review, AMD still does not support Driver Command Lists! Nvidia has supported it for over a year now.
