    Hello all,
I've searched high and low, this amazing forum as well as the internet and no such luck on much information on this graphics card.
I have the new Sony Vaio SB i7 with 1gb AMD 6630M.
I've ran it through 3Dmark06 and received 7542 score.

I have heard though that Sony underclocks these cards a lot so I would like to push safely just a little more.

I tried ATI tray tool and it crashed.
I tried AMD GPU and not compatible.
I tried MSI Afterburner and cant overclock, only to stock clocks.

I've been hearing this is unoverclockable, but it this really true?
Any of your overclocking pros can provide any direction or help?

    Let me know, thank you

the 6630m is already an underclocked card, its the same chip as the 6650m and the 6730m. And no sony didnt underclocked this one

You could try Sapphire TriXX GPU tool.
That was the only program that would enable me to overclock my AMD Radeon HD 6970m over the AMD Overdrive limit.

Not that i need an overclock, so im back to the "safe" limit of AMD Overdrive.

    Hope this helps,
    DEagleson

    @DEagleson
Sapphire Trixxx worked perfect and easy/simple software. I will only be overclocking slightly in the near future when games require a bit more push from this 1gb AMD 6630M.
Even on no overclock, it runs all high/extra for COD/Black Ops as well as on medium/high for BF:BC2. With zero lag.
So even a safe overclock might allow me to receive some better "eye candy" if I need.

Thank you all, this forum is a God send at times!

Even though my question is answered could someone clarify at Mr.MM statement that the 6630M is same as the 6650M and 6730M?
    Whats the differences then?
I did some research and it seems the 6650 and 6730 have higher specs, so they are different.....

Glad you could get the overclock to stick.

they use the same chip, the difference is the clock, the 6750m and the 6770m, are the same chips as the others but with GDDR5 and higher clocks

However, your overclocking on the 6630M is going to be heavily restricted to the GDDR3 VRAM and also the possible lower voltages that are imposed on it vs. the 6750M and the 6770M. Therefore your 6630M might never reach the stock performance yields of the 6750M thanks to the GDDR3 VRAM.

That being said, I am sure you can still squeeze an additional 10%-15% out of it with a decent and stable overclock under the assumption it also has good voltages!

thats why i said in the other post that you can reach (depending on the card) the performance levels of the 6650m and the 5730m since those 2 are GDDR3 equipped
