Exactly. Much more likely crypto will get heavily regulated. After the resulting gigacrash as the affected actors dump the hot assets, the Chinese miners depicted earlier will just pack up the laptops and sell them as new to unsuspecting customers.

Not sure how exactly they are planning to regulate crypto though, so in the end they might just end up effectively banning it.

This will only make more black/grey money. Not so sure this will be the ultimate solution:)

The ultimate solution would have to include total surveillance and policing, fairly close to what Chinese citizens are "enjoying" already.

The Chinese citizens controls model will be rolled out with some enhancements, they believe it's the best way to control people.

How to Optimize Your GPU for Ethereum Mining tomshardware.com | Today

Ethereum GPU mining is back and — currently, at least — highly profitable. But there's more to it than just firing up the software and letting it run in the background, especially if you've managed to procure one of the best graphics cards. Most of the graphics cards in our GPU benchmarks hierarchy can theoretically earn money right now, depending on how much you pay for power. However, you'll want to tune your graphics card with the optimal settings, and the brand and card model can have a big impact on overall performance and efficiency.

Wow, "theoretically up to 10 bucks/day" on a top tier desktop GPU!!! I guess I could try mining a buck or two a day on my 2070MQ here, but I'm not going to do it for environmental reasons alone.

Better you let the miners keep on. New MB isn't always easy to find. And they won't be cheap:D And on top you risk lose your good undervolter as well if this is what you have.

I'm sure the gamers don't like what they see nowadays. I'm quite sure the miners have good access to the inventory from many of nvidia's partners. Even Nvidia opened the doors for them before the gamers could click the purchase button.

GPU mining causing power outages in Iran videocardz.de

Chinese companies are reportedly moving their mining operations to Iran, where the electricity cost is 4 times lower than in mainland China (1.8 to 2.2 cents per kilowatt-hour). The country is now allegedly hosting 14 large mining farms that consume around 300 megawatts of power. This is comparable to the power consumption of a city with 100K inhabitants. According to research by the University of Cambridge, Iran is among the six popular destinations for mining farms in the world.

Insanity. But I guess if "investors" are piling into Ether, then someone stands to profit.

Bitcoin (BTC) Entering a New Age of Mainstream Adoption Following Tesla’s (NASDAQ: TSLA) $1.5 Billion Bet on the Cryptocurrency wccftech.com | Today

On the whole though, today’s development bodes quite well for Bitcoin’s mainstream adoption. More companies will now likely jump on the Bitcoin bandwagon, accelerating acceptance for the cryptocurrency. It is, therefore, hardly surprising that Bitcoin is surging today, having already raced past the $43,000 price level on the back of a 11 percent-plus move.

The growing adoption of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies constitutes a seminal shift in the market’s perception of these digital assets. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen how the cryptos would fare against national digital currencies, backed by the full faith and credit of central banks. To this end, China is leading the race as its digital yuan is close to an official launch following successful trial runs. As far as Bitcoin itself is concerned, some skeptics point to its slow transaction processing ability as a major dampener for mainstream adoption. Nonetheless, Tesla’s move today marks a major shot across the bow of paper-based currencies.
