John McAfee charges $105,000 per tweet to promote your ICO
How much would you pay for an ‘expert’ to endorse your ICO?

"How much would you pay for a promotional tweet from software legend turned cryptocurrency expert John McAfee?

For those looking to make a mark in the digital-currency world, recognition is everything. The sheer volume of new currency tokens, ICOs and ventures have saturated the market, making it tough to stand out. With nearly half of all ICOs in 2017 failing, it might be tempting to invest in some recognition.

However, you’ll need deep pockets if you want an endorsement from one of the biggest crypto bulls.

“Individual tweets, whether created in Mr. McAfee’s voice or by the company whose products we are promoting, cost $105,000 per tweet,” writes the McAfee Crypto Team.

“Unless there are special circumstances we will do no more than seven tweets per promotion. This ensures that other projects and technologies will have a chance to use our services, since we limit promotional tweets to a max of two per day.”

That’s $105,000 per tweet, or $375 per character.

McAfee, who is better known for his computer programming background as the founder of McAfee Associates, remains one of the more outspoken characters in the cryptocurrency world.

He has said bitcoin is the only guaranteed investment in the crypto world, and when he upped his price target for the No. 1 digital currency to $1 million in late 2017, it came with a surprise. McAfee tweeted he would eat a certain part of his body if it didn’t reach this level by 2020.

While McAfee is now a part of the digital world with his role with MGT Capital Investments, which has ventured into the mining business, his price target for bitcoin BTCUSD, +6.93% is perhaps denting his integrity and turning off customers. However, according to McAfee, this isn’t the case.

They say I sold out 'cause I use my tweets to promote, but the last 200 ICOs that lined up, we rejected 195 and chose 5. I only promote what I believe. In addition, all ICOs that we promote, since Finacoin, are audited by Crypto Connection. And I limit promos to 2 a day max. So..

And there is no shortage of confidence on the McAfee team. They write: “John McAfee’s tweets are by far the most influential in the field of cryptocurrency. Over 50,000 of his followers answered a series of polls about their investments and use of cryptocurrencies.”

As of April 3, John McAfee had 812,000 Twitter followers."

    What’s Next for Blockchain?

Blockchains could store up to 10 percent of our global GDP in the future, upwards of $8 trillion. Some proclaim it the new “internet of value.” Yet others predict its demise, perhaps following in the path of the overhyped but prescient Apple Newton or even the once bright X.400 standard.

Is blockchain technology poised for a long and brilliant future, or not?

Here are some telltale signs that might reveal blockchain’s ultimate fate.

Nope. As they say, "What does that have to do with the price of Tea in China?", it's irrelevant.

Digital banks are 35+ times more productive than traditional banks
I’m launching the new book Digital Human in New York on April 12 (if you want to come, register here), following on from our recent London launch.

In London, I was delighted to host Ashok Vaswani, CEO of Barclays Bank UK, and Li Wang, Head of Alipay and Ant Financial for EMEA, as panellists to debate the themes back on March 19 at Barclays RISE in London. Over 100 guests joined us for the evening, and it was a great night. Martin Arnold, Banking Editor at The Financial Times, kindly moderated the evening and we recorded the whole event for sharing afterwards. Therefore, in the spirit of sharing, here is the 60-minute launch of Digital Human, of which the panel is 45 minutes and Q&A is 15 minutes.

Google to crack down on cryptojacking on Chrome
After seeing a rise in cryptojacking extensions, Google will delist all cryptocurrency mining extensions on Chrome Web Store.
    By Stephanie Condon | April 2, 2018 -- 19:05 GMT (12:05 PDT)
    http://www.zdnet.com/article/google-to-crack-down-on-cryptojacking-on-chrome/

"Google is cracking down on Chrome extensions that run cryptocurrency mining scripts, after seeing a rise in extensions that embed such scripts without user consent.

Starting Monday, the Chrome Web Store is no longer accepting any extensions that mine cryptocurrency, whether that is their expressed intent or not, Google said in a blog post. Then in late June, Google will delist all existing cryptocurrency mining extensions.

The Chrome Web Store previously accepted cryptocurrency mining extensions that sufficiently informed users about the mining. However, the blog post noted, "approximately 90% of all extensions with mining scripts that developers have attempted to upload to Chrome Web Store have failed to comply with these policies, and have been either rejected or removed from the store."

Additionally, Google noted that there's been a rise in cryptojacking extensions over the past few months. As ZDNet previously reported, cryptojacking can be so lucrative that cybercriminals are turning away from ransomware in favor of cryptocurrency mining.

While cryptocurrency mining extensions will no longer be allowed, Google says it will permit extensions with other blockchain-related purposes.
