Has anyone done this, if so what are the pros and cons to consider. I'm fairly certain many of us leave our laptops at home because of its size.
I was also wondering with the current gpu and video card mods is it possible to use desktop internals if the motherboard was mounted on a custom bracket/case?
I'm sure this has been a topic before and I have only seen one crude example in a youtube video from many years ago. For those who regularly swap out and upgrade the internals would there be any overclocking benefits?

You'd have access to the ability to mount a far superior cooler, which could allow you to reach higher overclocks.

That's only if you increase the mass in the heatsink, bigger better fan will yield some results but with a bigger heat exchanger the exercise will be a huge pain with little return.
