I've seen people use them and the same rules apply to the dell 2gb version about forcing the GPU but as you have the unlocked bios already you are good to go.

Just make sure that if you want to get the best out of it only use vbios files that state clevo version. On the plus side the clevo version is not clock locked at +135 max so you can overclock it quite a bit before you need to up the voltage.

Thanks for the advise Micky, does this mean it is a simple case of just taking the old 580m out and putting the new one in? who do I play around with vbios as never had to play with this before? do i have to disable the sound card etc as stated on other graphic card upgrades I have read up about

It is that simple. You have to force PEG in the bios as only stock cards for a model play nice with optimus. The driver install will need to be modded with a custom .inf file and I'm sure you'll find plenty of instructions on this. I get them from forums.laptopvideo2go.com.

I advise installing the latest driver before upgrading and do not un-install it. The driver will figure it out and you'll only need to set the res and struggle with modded files when a new driver comes along later.

The sound card issue only shows up with the 780m so no mucking around there. The vbios files are needed only to unlock the dell cards and also allow you to use higher voltages. I run my 680m at max voltage and it stays under 74c with a +220mhz overclock, it's a solid card! You may well be happy enough at stock for a while.

I do have a set of vbios files for the clevo 680m so if you want to try them later hit me up with a PM.

    Good luck.
