I'm new to laptop gaming and heard that it's not quite so easy to change hardware unlike a desktop PC. I'm looking to upgrade my old Alienware M15X it was i5 430m and GT 240 it literally runs csgo at 10 fps... what are some cheap upgrades I can make with this? Not looking for a high end laptop just something to play older games.. If someone could suggest some parts to buy that would be amazing everything I look up is from 2010 :(

920xm + FirePro m6100 together cost 100$ and will give a much stronger notebook

Thank you so much for the reply I'll look into those parts, are there different versions of these? Is it pretty straight forward to buy them or or do I have to look for a certain pin type

Very straightforward, no real variance to either part except you get a Dell FirePro M6100 and not a HP model

man are you LUCKY that you own a m15x, its basically the most universally compatible laptop there is (and probably ever was) in terms of GPUs :D you can slap in a 980M / 1060 / 1070 standard MXM-B and upgrade the CPU to a 940XM :)
