Just checking out Alienware's page, it seems they removed the M15x from the US site. Kinda made me sad to see it.

The m15x is gone from Dell's website. Looks like our system is finally done being produced.

This is bad, now people will need to buy the m18x to get a high quality casing. All other models are now made of plastic...

Also, does the M17x R3 have socketed components? I mean, are they upgradeable? I know everything in the M15x is easy to upgrade yourself and that was one of the advantages it still held, but I wasn't sure about the newer models.

Well the 18x would be an m17x R2 replacement and the 14x is moreof a 15x replacement so they probably are just ending 15x sales

I meant on their page, its a nicer design to have more limited amount of computers showing, its less confusing then having multiple versions of similar laptops. I know on some of the sites for other countries they have several similar looking laptops and it looks messy.

Either way it makes me sad in a way to see it gone.

What does this mean for warranty replacements in the future? I've always preferred ATI over nvidia, also the M14x doesn't offer a 1080p screen. I thought that the new M17xR2 was more of the M15x replacement because comparing them side by side, they're practically the same size.

No, the M17x R3 is kinda the new M15x... single GPU system, more powerful... But I'm sure they have enough parts for a while... and they definitely can't give you a M14x as replacement for a M15x, that would be a downgrade in most cases.

Sorry if im a bit slow, but are they discontinueing the M15x? I cant see why they would do that, seeing as the M14x has less power, and the M17x is just too big for most people.

Actually, when comparing the sizes, they are almost the same. What you must understand is the M15x is a 17 inch laptop with a 15 inch screen. The new M17x R3 is a lot smaller than the older M17x. Imagine when you look at your M15x and see that the screen has been stretched all the way to the edges without changing the chassis size. Make that 3D, take the keyboard and shift it to the left and add a numberpad to the right. Put in Sandy Bridge and some quicker GPUs. Boom. M17x R3. I guess what I am trying to say is that there is almost no size difference.

I actually use a 17 inch laptop sleave for my M15x, but i didnt realise that the M17x was a similar size, i just presumed that the chassis would have been 18-19 inches to be honest :) I'm now wondering why i didnt just buy an M17x in the first place! Its almost impossible to find a shop that sells them in the UK before buying them though, and the M17x prices are much higher.

Tis true. There is so much size difference between the M17x R2 and the M17x R3. You can have a look at hidevolution.com their service is pretty reputable. They ship to the UK and you don't pay as much for the same config. If it is an 'in stock' item then you'll get it in under 7 days but if they have to order it from Dell, it can take up to a month.

OH.. . I thought the 15' was the best seller. I was expecting the M15 R3 to be announced. I was thinking that because it was the best seller so they would postpone the release date to gain more sales on the new release models (14' and 18'.) Well some of you guys make a good point that the M17R3 is almost the same size as the M15. So they discontinue the M15. This assumption make sense. But kind of disappointed since I like the M15, so NO more M15 with sandy bridge.::( :
