    Hey everybody,

I have been out of the high end gaming laptop since I got my last Alienware 18 770m SLI laptop.
I did not want to go back to a single GPU solution but since I will be flying allot for work I am in the market again for another gaming behemoth.

My budget is about $3000-$5000 but before I buy anything I wanted to see if waiting a little would give me better options.

So ultimately what I am asking when is Alienware, Razer etc releasing their next version of their flagships models?

Word of advice, don't even consider Razer's machines if you want any form of reliability.

Well every single Alienware laptop I owned was not exactly "reliable" but I always get the maximum warranty available to offset it.
I do appreciate the word of advice.

Right now I am between a heavy beast or something very slim with a monster gpu.

That's the thing - you assume that Razer's warranty is worth a damn. They have the absolute worst customer support in the industry - but don't let me tell you, just check the forums for the customer support threads.

I agree with don_svetlio I like some of the ideas they have made for keyboards, but they don't have a good reputation. When I was about to get a new beast I was going for a P870KM1. That's what I'm going to get when is time to let my M18x rest

Best Heavy beast in the industry is Clevo P870KM1. it has Desktop i7-7700K and GTX 1080 sli. I think it may be lighter than your old alienware even @ 10.5 lbs. I member those AW 18 being like 13 lbs or more?

Best light gaming monster is The EVOC 16L-G-1080 (MSI 16L13). It has Desktop i7-7700K and GTX 1080 (at full 200W if the EVOC version).Miraculously it is lighter than the AW 15 R3 at 6.4 lbs (only 1.2 lbs heavier than the AW 13 excluding power brick of course). It is not "thin" by todays standards, but @ 1.6" thick, it is very thin compared to what you are used to.

The only reason to get anything Alienware is to get AW 13 R3 with OLED screen; or if you can't afford the MXM + Desktop CPU laptops I mentioned, because the AW 17 + GTX1080 is a very good price with Dell discounts

To answer your original question. Not till 2018 for new GPU models. They may through in some Ryzen models in time for holiday season though.

Do not expect any redesigns for at least a year

    Thanks for all the information.
I really do not like how the alternative options look so I think I will wait for next year models. It is a shame because I dont mind paying top dollar for a portable "desktop" laptop but none of these options look premium.
Hopefully next years models will have what I need.

Definitely waiting isn't a bad idea at all and hopefully alienwares next refresh will launch with no problems and have that premium feel and look that you want. Honestly I would keep Dell on top of your list of possible purchases because there CS is probably the best there is when it comes to gaming laptops. I've been burned by Asus and Acer, never again.
