Cable will work fine I would recommend a thicker paste like the Phobya NanoGrease Extreme or IC Diamond 24

SLI cable is the same. IC Diamond is what I use on my 980m SLI.

They are the same, the 7 and 24 refer to the weight of the diamonds. 1.5 grams has 7 carats and 4.8 grams has 24 carats.

I play FFXIV on Extreme settings on a 2k monitor with my 2 x 980m's and the hottest they get is 69 degrees Celsius.
