So I finally got my Alienware 15 R3 with 6700 CPU,1070 GPU, and 120hz panel, but there's one big problem: I can't download the latest nvidia drivers, so games like Witcher 3 and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided all run like crap. I've been hearing that nvidia recently whitelisted the new Alienware laptops, but when I try to update mine, I still get the message saying that this device is not compatible. Does anyone know a solution to this? Thanks.

So nobody else is having trouble with updating nvidia drivers for the Alienware 15R3 with GTX 1070?

Are you downloading through Geforce Experience or via the Nvidia website?

I tried both. GeForce experience doesn't even acknowledge there's an update, and running the installer just says my device is not compatible.

What version do you currently have installed? You can check that out inside of Geforce Experience I believe or you can go into device manager, Display Adaper, right click on properties for the Nvidia, and driver info.

Will try this, thanks. What kinds of risk can this incur and would you say it's worth taking the risk?

I think about as bad as it'll get is you just reinstall the tolerated driver. Just easier to find on a thumbdrive. You shouldn't have any problem.
