    Hello

I have decided to get a new notebook, because the old one was getting slow and was extremely unportable. It will be used for a wide range of stuff, from school work to light photo editing to music production.

It needs to be portable, and I think that 14-inch would be the perfect size as a compromise between portability and usability. 1080p also seems as the best compromise between resolution and battery.

Spec-wise I'm thinking of a Core i5 or i7 either Skylake or Kaby Lake, 8 gb ram, 256 GB SSD (preferably PCIe) but I don't know about graphics. Most ultrabooks come with Intel HD chips but discrete graphics would be awesome.

    Price point preferably under 1000$.

Thinking of the Lenovo Yoga 710 14.

    Any other advise or ideas?

The specific yoga model is with i7 Kaby lake, 8 gb DDR4 ram, 256 GB m.2 SSD (not PCIe), and either Intel HD 620 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 940MX

You may wish to consider the FAQ stuck at the top of this forum and post. That would help us narrow the field. Good luck and welcome to NBR.
