I have a very weird problem. It has bin there since i bought it, but it took me a while to figure out what causes my WIFI to interupt.

It's the movement of the laptop itself. If I dont move it and keep it on a steady surface, no problem. But if I move it, and sometimes even only slightly, my internet disconnects, and the WIFI shows as non-existent. If I then wait for app. 10 seconds (without moving the laptop of course) The wifi networks show up again, and I can reconnect.

My Wireless Driver Version is: 19.50.1.6
(I have tried upgrading to 19.70.0.5, but that just doesnt work, it says success but keeps showing me 19.50.1.6)

    Anyone experiencing the same weirdness?
Could it be a loose wifi antenna inside or something like that?
(still wouldnt explain the driver upgrade problem)

    Best regards,
    Tob

When you say the wifi disconnects. Does the icon in the toolbar just go away or show an empty antenna with a red "X."

I would open device manager and try and get the wifi to disconnect. Does device manager reload? if so, windows thinks your wireless card is being disconnected.

You could also check event viewer to see if that gives any clues.

Without knowing any more, my only guess is that the card needs reseated or like you said, theres an antenna issue. If the card needs reseated, that could explain the driver issue.

Yes, in the device manager the card reloads, it dissapears. Then, after a few secondes, it reloads again and reapears. I have never opened the laptop, but i guess it has to be opened now and WIFI card has to be checked. Right?

So you've got two options I think, pick the one you are more comfortable with.

    1) boot to a ubuntu live cd. Does the wifi still disconnect? If so then its definitely a hardware issue. If not, then its just windows and drivers.
    2) open it up and reseat the chip. Pretty easy honestly. The aero uses Torx T6 screws, and the wifi card will be exposed as soon as you take off the bottom plate.

Is this on the left. Take it out and put it back in. Blow on it while you at it

Ok! The green-white thing next to the battery, or the metal thingy above it?

((((THANK YOU so much for your recommendations. I finally dared to open the damn thing myself, and just gently pressed on the chip (without really reseating it)
It didnt move at all,BUT I was suprised when I restarted: WIFI is stable now! Whohoo! ))))

UPDATE: This only lasted a couple of hours. It is more stable. But still disconnects occasionally in the exact same way. :( Maybe i should have taken it out completely and put it in again. But too afraid to do something that voids the waranty.

Hi, I have the same issue here and it drives me crazy ... It does this every 5 minutes :( I can't contact the gigabyte support, because every time i try to send them a ticket to the support website page, it says "system is busy, try later".

I consider to get refunded by the dealer, because i still have the warranty.
