    Hi there
I was wondering if anyone can help me.
I need to increase the screen brightness on my W7. The [Fn] F2 hotkey for some reason does not work (?faulty F2 key) and I wondered if there is any other way to do this?
    Thanks
    Andrew

Take it into a very dark room, it will magically seem brighter without pressing any function keys at all. :)

Toughbook has suggested the best and cheapest way
Make sure that the hotkey driver is loaded and working
To check hit Fn +F9 and see if the battery level is displayed
If it is then you have the drivers installed correctly.. maybe?

Then you can try installing a software based keyboard that has a Fn key

Or there is software that will re-map the keyboard functions

    Replace keyboard

Andrew, you say that the F2 does not work, but does it show the brightness window with the yellow triangle? If not, it's probablay a driver issue. Does [Fn] F1 decrease brightness?

You can also check in the control panel. Select Intel GMA driver for Mobile. Select Nobebook, then select Display Settings then Power Settings. See how it is set up...

Thanks for all your helpful replies.

All the other hotkeys work, including Fn F1 to make screen dimmer. In fact my daughter pressed that so many times it's now as dim as it goes, but the Fn F2 won't work to make it brighter again! (The yellow box comes up with F1 but not F2.)

I thought perhaps a software keyboard might be easiest but the ones I've seen so far don't have Fn key. I wondered if there is any other way to access this function? I havn't managed to change the brightness using intel graphics driver power settings.

    Thanks again
    Andrew
