Hey i'm about to purchase a laptop (my first one) and can't decide between the two. I want it for College and media functions, and need power for multitasking and such. I'm at a crossroad with these two and not sure which to get. I like the Acer Web cam a lot and want one but the toshiba is cheaper. any suggestions on which 1 might be better quality performance and everything.
    Thanks a lot!

Personally, I'd say go for the Acer

Having said that, I don't see what the graphics card is for the Toshiba? (says see features section) so if graphics are important that may be a deciding factor, but the Acer has the better (newer) processor so is more future ready IMHO.

The Acer has a newer C2D, but you really won't lose a lot of performance with the Toshiba's Core Duo. The real difference I see in these two laptops is the battery life. If you plan on using it in your classes, the Toshiba 4 hr battery life is a plus.

Other then that they seem to be very comparable, you do save $100 with the Toshiba. I've had a couple of Toshiba's in the past and am currently using an Acer now, and have had great experiences with both. If you can, go to a local store and compare both models (or similar models), it's a good way to get the "feel" of the laptop.

I'd say go for the Acer, having used a couple myself with no issues. The Acer also has a 5-in-1 card reader, which the Toshiba lacks, although it doesn't have an Express Card slot.

The toshiba's video suppose to ba GMA950 as well. I would go to toshiba coz it is $100 less . You can ignore the CPU's difference becasue they generate almost same performance eventhough T5200 is C2D. And quality of these 2 brand are on same level as well. So go with the cheapest one.

toshiba just started selling the a205 series (w/webcam), so you might want to wait a bit. the a105 will be slowly phased out, and you might be able to find it for even cheaper.
that said, if you're really on a budget, you might want to look into an equivalent amd based laptop from acer.
