I recently bought this laptop with the gtx 1080, 7820hk, 32gb ram, and I notice that while gaming for long periods my laptop starts draining even though its plugged in. Can you guys please tell me if this also happens to you? Im currently undervolted to -160, 3.8ghz. So I dont think thats the problem. While googling I found this:

Acer claims that the laptop is design to run on battery even when plugged in, and when it hits 30% it uses ac power again. I just want to know if this happens to anyone else? with the same specs

Wow - this is the most ridiculous spin on things I've seen. Apparently an underpowered PSU is now a feature.
I'm afraid you won't be able to do anything about it as this laptop simply draws more power than the PSU provides, unless you replace the PSU that is.

It happens to every predator 17 x and other predator too. It also happen in other brands as well. Undervolting the GPU help, especial if set a limit to FPS.

That is just sad, the battery would lose it's max capacity in no time with these frequent discharges/recharges

This is a power management thing. It uses the battery as a 2nd power supply to provide more power to the components, this is also the reason why Predator notebooks outperform other notebooks with same specs.

To give you an idea about the performance difference:
Acer Predator scores: 22566 3Dmark FS
    Average score: 21281 3dMark FS

If the feature is good or bad, Idk, I suppose it depends on the person. Considering that the predator is a DTR I suppose most people would prefer this over batterylife.
