The laptop some 6years old has failed to boot and I have stripped it down to check the cimos battery, I have also studied the works manual, which makes no mention of the battery, and am at a loss asto where it is.
Would appreciate details from somebody who actually knows where it is concealed, Photos of both sides of mobo attached IMG_2248.JPG IMG_2250.JPG

I couldn't see it, but this may help you to identify.

On the other hand, it might have been soldered to the MB.

Well if it can't be seen on these photos it must be still covered by chassis on a second photo.
You can check out a service manual if there is one available for your notebook (see sticky)

Thanks . The manual does not even mention cimos battery which would necessitate a total stripdown of everything to gain access to it.
Fortunately I was able to find the "jumper" to reset the BIOS and the laptop now boots.
The "jumper" is a very small item under the memory cards and shorting the two very small solder dots on the mobo for 30 seconds did the trick.
I am at a total loss to understand how a compete strip down is necessary to access what is a service item like a cimos battery.

Glad you got it sorted and Thanks for letting us know how you did it.

As a matter of interest, did you short these dots ( yellow circled)?

No they are as marked as smaller dots on attached photo. They are about 6mm apart and can be shorted with a screwdriver.
