    Hi,

Thank you guys for all the useful information. I removed the ram and ssd last night. I plugged both back in tonight and the laptop is completely dead (no power lights or anything). I took apart the laptop and re-connected all the connections. The LED lights for power don't come on anymore (it usually comes on even if I don't press the power button). Not sure how that could happen

Then you have not re connect the power button in the right way.
But if the laptop was dead after removing the SSD, ram must be inside, then you have done what's possible.
Maybe you can look for another mobo, like downloads said.

    To all:
I want to upgrade cpu from i3-330. If i buy i5-560m do we still need microcode for bios v1.28 to work correctly? Or this cpu is already plug and play without any mods.

You do need the latest BIOS otherwise you'll need to press F1 at every boot to continue.

I have latest v1.28 bios right now.
Does i5-560 cpu works fine with v1. 28 bios without pressing F1?

Did anyone installed cpu i5-560m to the 5740g? because it does not work in mine! latest bios v1.28
I disassemble it two times to check every cable and cpu legs - still does not work. When I press power button fan spins for 5sec then stop. Screen is black....

Yes - mine is running with Core i5 560M and BIOS 1.28. I switched it on and entered BIOS setup just to verify that I'm not mistaken about that.
