    @woofgoo

    Most likely not due to a different connector which may and probably be an issue for automatic fan control.

    Thanks.

    Is "4 pin - Dc5v --- 1.08w" better than original one?
    (Original values - 5v -- 0.7w)

    @woofgoo It probably won't be noticeably different than the original one. You would have to find the specs and see the difference in the CFM at given rpm and how loud is it.

    Hi woofgoo

    Don't now if you have the schematics, but on page 38 you see the fan.

    Pin 1 PWM connected thru 2 Ohm resistor to PWM out from chip U15b on page 39
    Pin 2, 5 and 6 to ground
    Pin 3 Tacho connected on page 39 thru 10K resistor RN54 to +3,3V, and pin 31 U15b, so laptop will measuring fan speed.
    Pin 4 connected to +5V

    Don't no the colors of our acer fan, do not now where to look for my uploaded pictures, but I guess;
    Red=5v Black= ground and Yellow= PWM

    Your second fan is from acer travelmate, don't now if it will fit.

    EDIT,
    In above I told Tacho is not used because it hangs on pull up resistor, its not true, it also hangs
    on pin 31 U15b, chipset ?

    Hi guys,

    My laptop seems to have a black screen of death (Not sure). When I boot up, it sits in the black screen for a few seconds before flashing a screen full of discolored blocks one time and then going back to black screen. The laptop is not producing any error beeps or anything. It happened a couple times already in the past after my auto window 10 updates. Those times I manage to boot up my laptop after 20-30 minutes of removing battery/holding power button. This time, nothing is working. I been with this laptop for a while, would not want to scrap it since I just got a new SDD for it 1 year ago. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Have you try to boot up in BIOS ?
    Hearing no beeps or anything then it's maybe a RAM failure, try to swap it, DDR can get worse over time.
    Try simple things first.

    I get no response pressing F2 (bios i think), only a beep sound. The screen remains black. If my GPU failed, would these symptoms happen?

    Black screen
    Fan no spin
    Led lights on, but no reaction from laptop

    If my gpu did indeed fail, is my laptop pretty much going to the dumpster since the gpu is attached internally? Ebay quoted me $200 for a repair of the gpu or cpu, but I am not sure if a 10 year old laptop is worth $200. I was originally going to try to DIY repair it, but it might seems this issue is way over my head.

    Thanks

    @xSase There are used motherboards on e-bay for $70-90. That would seem more reasonable.
