Gelid GC Extreme. Ram frequency is capped by cpu. As far as I can remember 1333mhz dual cores and 1600 quads

Yes you are right. I don't own it anymore so I couldn't verify that.

Get cheap quad. Make sure that you have clean radiator. Remove plastic s**t from contact surface. You can do heatsink "lapping". And enjoy new life of your laptop. It gets hot but I was using my one for over a year as daily driver without problem. Major problem with quads is your battery. Because of lot higher power usage worn battery can make cause you laptop suddenly switching off due to high voltage drop. And you will be able to switching back on with battery showing like 50-60%.

Wow I must say that after 8 years and 606 pages that its nice to come back and see one of my all time fav sleeper laptops still has a loyal following.
I haven't been as much of an enthusiast as I was back when this thread was started but now that my oldest kids are now 11 and the youngest are now 4 (2 sets of twins) its time to take up my hobby once again. Might just have to go searching for that unicorn once again :) @downloads I'll be sure to get you to start the next owners lounge :p
