i have an Acer Asp 6736G
it's working smoothly, but the problem is it get turned off instantly when i'm using it, i don't know what's the problem, sometimes when i just turned it on 10 secs after that it get off by itself but sometime it can hold up to 1 hour
it's not because it's hot, because usually it get turned off right after i turned it on
i tried to open it and apply some thermal paste (cause the thermal paste is already dried up) but it's not working at all, it still have the same problem
i tried bringing it to an acer service center but they said "the motherboard is the problem so u should buy a new one" (like hell!)..
    so any suggestion? :)

Either the power brick or the motherboard (capacitors/power circuit) are the most likely. The service center folks are probably right.

i know buying a new motherboard would definitely fix it, but i don't think the problem is the whole motherboard cause it's working fine, besides it gets turn off by itself
most of my friends are facing this problem too when using acer laptop after a few years, and none are able to fix it

There are capacitors where the power plug goes into the motherboard. Maybe you can replace them without trashing the motherboard. Good luck!

I would personally try this first before deciding to buy a new motherboard or simply discard the laptop. But I guess it would also depend on where you live as I live in a place wherein labor is relatively cheap. But if so, I would still sell it )the laptop) as soon as it is fixed as sometimes these problems could sometimes turn out to be chronic.
